Sunbakers

A sunbaker is a name given to gold nuggets found lying on the ground, no digging or panning required.

Exploring the bush on my bike it is common to come across burnt out cars, their fragments scattered all around. I bring home selected pieces and clean up these collections into ‘LOTS’. Aluminium comes from bauxite, which is mined here in Western Australia. Unique textures on each piece come from direct contact with the ground as the materials cool and reform. This is a ground of bauxite pea gravel.

The 3 word titles are the locations of the vehicle burn sites and can be found using the what3words app. In every location there are still sunbakers to find.

Each 'LOT’ is available to buy as a collection. In this fictional post-apocalyptic mining economy I dictate this to be $1 per gram.
